About
“My paintings are essentially studio paintings. Increasingly, they relate to memory, particularly when evoking a sense of something barely remembered, something almost lost but kept in indefinite images, in a similar way that a landscape becomes barely perceptible as day turns to night. As things fade, a new image emerges”

Justin Cooke studied Fine Art at Newcastle University. On leaving he began a career as a professional artist, taking part in established shows such as Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions and Royal West of England Academy exhibitions. His work associated with the South Dorset ridgeway was published in a book in 2008 - with seventy of his paintings illustrated, alongside notes about his work and inspiration. This book represents the core of Justin's work at that time. Since then, Justin has developed his use of mixed media, creating larger, more experimental paintings.
